Children Top 10
Games the Kids will love. Fun icebreakers
and Party starters.
Children's party games are a good way
to keep the kids entertained if your struggling to think of things to do and
need ideas to
keep the kids entertained at the party. If you need a bit of a helping
hand - Look no further; our handy guide
will help! Here are UK Party DJ’s top 10 party games for Children.
Children's Party Game #1 - Musical
Bumps/Statues
A firm party favourite, this game comes
in two variations. In both, music is played and the children have to dance
and jump around until the music stops. When it stops, if musical bumps is
your game of choice then all of the children have to sit on the floor as
fast as they can. If it’s musical statues, the children have to all stand
as still as they can. In musical bumps, the last child to sit down is out
and so on until a winner is left. In musical statues, whoever moves first
once still is out. It’s a good idea to have a small prize for the winner.
Children's Party Game #2 - Pass the
Parcel / Pass the Bomb
Again, this game comes in two forms.
The first, most traditional game is pass the parcel. Music plays and the
players have to pass around the parcel, made with layers of wrapping paper
around a small prize. You can also hide little prizes in between layers so
there are some surprises. When the music stops, the player holding the
parcel has to unwrap the layer. This continues until the last layer, when
the player holding the parcel wins the prize. With pass the bomb, the
player holding the parcel when the music stops is out. This carries on
until one player is left, who wins the parcel’s prizes.
Children's Party Game #3 - Pin the tail
on the Donkey
This is an absolute party classic, and
can take many other forms depending on what picture you decide to use.
Players take it in turns to be blindfolded and then spun on the spot in
front of a picture, normally of a donkey. They must then guess where the
place for the tail should go, and the winner will be the child who guesses
closest to the tail’s actual location. With older girls, you can always
get them to put lipstick on and include a photo of their favourite pop
star – they then have to kiss where they think the singer’s lips should
be.
Children's Party Game #4 - Limbo
This one can simply be using chairs and
a broom, or a bamboo stick and piles of books. The limbo stick starts off
high and then gets lower every time. The children must get under the stick
without touching it to progress to the next round. This carries on with
the stick getting lower and lower, with the winner being the child who
clears the lowest limbo.
Children's Party Game #5 - Musical
Chairs
Much like musical bumps and musical
statues, but this needs to be in a space big enough to put out enough
chairs for all of the children, minus one. The children walk around the
chairs while the music is on, and when it stops all of them must find a
chair to sit on as fast as they can. The child left without a chair is
eliminated and a chair is taken away, and this keeps going until there is
just one chair and one child left.
Children's Party Game #6 - Over and
Under
This game involves balloons, so is
perfect to get the party mood going, The children are split into two
teams, and lined up, with the child at the front of the line holding the
balloon. They must pass the balloon to the person behind, alternating
passing it above their head or between their legs. When the balloon gets
to the back of the line, the child at the back has to run to the front to
become the leader and the game starts again. The first team to have the
original leader back at the front of the line is the winner.
Children's Party Game #7 - Keys to the Castle
This game only needs a chair, a
blindfold and a bunch of keys. A child is nominated to be the guard of the
castle, and sits on the chair with the blindfold on. The keys are placed
below the chair, and the other children must sneak as quietly as they can
towards the chair. The aim is to grab the bunch of keys without being
heard by the castle guard. If the blindfolded child points at the any of
the children creeping towards the chair, they must start at the beginning
again. Whoever gets the keys then replaces the guard of the castle, and so
on.
Children's Party Game #8 - Who am I?
Each child takes turns to have a very
famous person that they would have heard of written on a post-it note and
stuck to their forehead. They have 20 questions to figure out who the
person is, and each question can only be answered with ‘yes’ or ‘no’. The
other children have to answer the questions, and when the celebrity has
been guessed, the next child takes their turn.
Children's Party Game #9 - Apple
Bobbing
This is simple but can get very messy,
so if indoors it may be wise to put down some towels or plastic sheeting!
A bowl of water is put on a chair or table, and is filled with apples. The
aim of the game is for the children to take turns to bob for the apples,
and to get them out of the bowl whilst their hands are behind their backs.
If you want to spice it up a bit, you can add a time element so that they
have a set amount of time to bob for the apples. Each player could be
rewarded with a small prize for getting an apple.
Children's Party Game #10 - Chinese
Whispers
This game is best played in a circle.
One player makes up a phrase or sentence, and whispers it to the person
next to them. Every player passes it round the circle until they get back
to the player who made it up. The children will love hearing what crazy
sentences have come from the original!
Hopefully that's given you some ideas
of what you can organise at your kids party.
Don't forget if you'd like your DJ to
host the kids party games to ask. They may well have some of the props
required already!
